Laptop battery swollen? Stop using it today
If your laptop battery is swollen, stop using and charging the laptop, shut it down, and get the battery replaced. A swollen lithium battery can crack the case and can catch fire.
- Signs: the touchpad or keyboard lifts up, the bottom bulges, or the laptop rocks on a flat table.
- Unplug the charger and shut the laptop down.
- Don't press on the bulge, and don't try to open or pierce the battery.
- Keep it away from heat, beds and anything that can burn.
- Get the battery replaced. Don't keep using the laptop "until it stops working."
